IELTS has security systems in place to
safeguard against identity fraud among candidates.
While some of these procedures are classified,
others include:
1. candidates must supply
photographic evidence of identity
2. identity documents are
limited to a passport or national identity card only
3. verification of
candidate’s signature
4. identity checks at various
stages during the test period
5. A separate identity check
for the Speaking test.
Candidates must take their passport or
national identity card into the test room.
IELTS test centre staff are trained in
impostor detection and fraudulent document recognition. They have
close links with the key Australian, New Zealand and Canadian
Government representatives who verify passports and other
documents.
TRF Verification Service
The TRF
Verification Service provides an additional safeguard
against fraudulent Test Report Forms to help recognising
organisations ensure candidates are presenting genuine
TRFs.
