Make sure your test centre offers IELTS One Skill Retake before booking your full test. - Receive results – we hope you are happy, but if not:
- Book IELTS One Skill Retake.
- Complete IELTS One Skill Retake within 60 days of your original test day.

Understanding your results
You will receive a new Test Report Form. This includes your updated IELTS One Skill Retake score as well as the results for the other three skills in the original test. You can choose whether you use your original or your new Test Report Form.

What is IELTS One Skill Retake?
IELTS One Skill Retake is a new way to help you reach your potential and showcase your full English language ability. With IELTS One Skill Retake, you now have the option to retake any one section of the test (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) if you need to improve on one area (instead of retaking all four sections). We know most people get the scores they need first time, but if you feel you have not performed to your best in all areas, IELTS One Skill Retake can be that help to get you back on track. It is available for both IELTS Academic and General Training tests.
Can I take One Skill Retake?
You can take One Skill Retake if you meet all of these requirements:
- you have completed a full test at a centre that offers IELTS One Skill Retake
- your full test was an IELTS on computer test
- you sit your IELTS One Skill Retake within 60 days of your full IELTS test.
How much does IELTS One Skill Retake cost?
Prices will vary, so please contact your local test centre for more information.
What is the maximum length of time possible between your original four skills IELTS test and IELTS One Skill Retake?
You need to book and take an IELTS One Skill Retake within 60 days of your original test.

You can retake any one section of the IELTS test, whether it is Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking. The format and timing of that IELTS One Skill Retake test is the same as that individual skill in a full IELTS test, only you can save time by not needing to complete the other three skills.
Can I complete a One Skill Retake multiple times?
No. You can only complete one retake for each full IELTS test.
Is IELTS One Skill Retake available for UKVI test?
UKVI is accepting IELTS One Skill Retake for IELTS Academic and General Training tests on computer in selected locations.
When will the option for IELTS One Skill Retake for the paper based tests be available?
At present, IELTS One Skill Retake is only available on computer in selected test centres, in selected countries. We are continuing to roll IELTS One Skill Retake out to test centres in more countries.
What options are available if you have any special requirements?
If you want to take IELTS One Skill Retake but are not able to take an IELTS on computer test because of a special requirement, please contact your test centre for support.
